In greater Pittsburgh,the North Shore continues to make its mark as a major destination in the region and beyond.  The quickly expanding section of town boasts restaurants, museums, bars, concert venues, PNC Park, Acrisure Stadium, and the Rivers Casino Pittsburgh.

To give gamers another lodging option nearby, the casino broke ground on a seven-story, $60-million dollar hotel to be attached to the existing casino façade. The combined building faces the Carnegie Science Center.NamedThe Landing Hotel Pittsburgh, it has more 200 rooms, including 20 luxury terrace suites with private first-floor patios.

Project renderings specified an exterior façade that could integrate into a glass and cast stone curtainwall.

A Winning Hand

CENTRIA’s Formawall Dimension Series was perfectly suited for the requirements of the project. Designers specified it in Silversmith and Rustic Liquid, a custom color for the front of the building. The resulting design using Formawall delivered superior thermal insulation in the Pittsburgh climate while still maintaining the building’s desired aesthetic.

“CENTRIA was able to meet our product demand, while also keeping us on budget”, said Michael Stewart, Principal at KLAI JUBA. “We had specific requirements based on design, thermal efficiency, and pricing, which was difficult to obtain with all the material delays surrounding COVID-19.”

By consolidating six wall components into one product, Formawall insulated metal panels create distinct architectural wall profiles to match any modern building design. Formawall panels integrate with windows and louver systems to complete the high-performance building envelope system, while providing high R-values of the panels significantly reduce energy consumption.

Concept Series was also specified in Silversmith as an accent. Concept Series single-skin wall panels feature concealed fasteners and a common-lock joint that allows the panels to be integrated with each other. CENTRIA’s Concept Series can be installed vertically or horizontally with an unbroken appearance and can be installed in a variety of rainscreen applications to form a complete wall system.

Ecoscreen CS-260, a perforated screenwall, was selected in Silversmith as an interchangeable single-skin metal panel with 12” wide coverage and 7/8” deep profiled panels. Ecoscreen CS-260 features three asymmetrical ribs with available staggered or reversed perforation pattern.

Additionally, Versawall V panels were specified in Medium Grey.  The embossed insulated metal wall panels are offered in flat, planked, or striated profiles for walls, adding versatility and flexibility for a building’s façade. Available in lengths ranging from 6’ to 52’ and 2, 2.75 and 4” thicknesses.

Construction began on the Landing Hotel Pittsburgh in early 2019. The hotel began booking reservations in late 2022.
